Everyday Hero in a Safety Vest

What is going on? Oh, no, we’ve lost electricity. I wonder how long it will be off? I had tried the kitchen lights, then the bathroom lights and then the living room.

I had been procrastinating. I need to work on some of the tedious parts of getting my book ready for publication. After working hard all week as a guest (substitute) teacher, all I wanted to on a Saturday is relax. But I also wanted to get the book done.

Now, this could be another obstacle.

I wanted to go to the neighbors to find out if they had lost electricity. I jumped in the shower, got dressed and went outside.

How Pressure and Chocolate Can Be Good For You

Today I felt totally stressed out. I have a great opportunity to speak to share my program, “Why and How to Write Your Story,” The speaking event is a good opportunity to educate, empower and equip others to write their stories.

I have a lot to do to get ready for it and many decisions to make which make me feel a lot of pressure because I want to do it right. In the midst of thinking all these issues through, I had a sudden craving for chocolate. 🙂 I’m health conscious so I’ve purchased raw cocoa because of it’s superior health benefits and came up with my own variation of a raw chocolate recipe.

Keys to Success ~ Diligence Leads to Profit

Have you ever bought a product personally or for your business that you thought would profit you but in the end it didn’t?

We’ve all had that experience.

An online promotion says you need to act by a certain time to take advantage of their offer and you make a hasty decision. You lose your time and money acting in haste and end up poorer for it.

In another scenario, you sign up for something legitimate but you’re not diligent about implementing what you bought.

King Solomon, one of the wisest men who ever lived,  made this observation.

You Don’t Have to Worry About Competition

When you know who you are and
What you have to offer
You don’t have to worry about competition
Because
No one can be who you are or
Can do it in the way you can do it
Even if others offer similar services
YOU are unique and special
You have a niche no one can fill

Nature’s Quiet Beauty Brings Wealth

Birds chirping. Wind gently stirring in the trees. Rich green everywhere I look. This is the nature walk I frequently enjoy along a creek that runs by our house. When I walk far enough down the road into a secluded section, the path becomes more wooded with trees lining both sides of the road.

When I used to walk, I’d often take my iPhone with me to listen to books while I walk. This made my walk for exercise pass more quickly. I felt more productive since I could absorb wisdom and knowledge from the books at the same time on my walk.

With Freedom Comes Responsibility

Freedom. What do you think about when you hear the word, freedom?

I used to think that freedom meant doing what I wanted. Then I realized that freedom only comes when I set limits and say no to things that are not good for me and even harmful to myself or others.

As I think about the freedom that comes from discipline, what we watch and think comes to mind. I believe as individuals we need to exercise restraint in how much we focus on darkness, harmful and destructive behavior simply for the sake of sensationalism or because we’re bored or curious.

How Cleaning Up Crayons Makes You Strong

What does cleaning up crayons have to do with growing stronger?

My grandsons scattered crayons all over the floor as they colored, ran off and left the mess.

“Come on over and clean up this mess you made and put the crayons back,” I shouted at them so they could hear.

They protested.

“Come on, it makes you strong to clean up your own messes. So come over here and get strong by taking responsibility to clean up your mess.”

They ran to the mess of crayons all over the floor and started putting them away.

How To Pesevere When You Feel Like Giving Up

Have you ever been excited because of a dream or a promise God spoke to your heart. Maybe even you “saw” it and believed confidently it could happen.

Now, time has gone by and you haven’t seen the result you desired. Is your flame of faith beginning to flicker?

Have you started to wonder if those dreams and promises would come true after all? Maybe your circumstances seem the opposite of what you first believed was possible.

I can relate to this challenge. At different times in my life, I’ve been in situations where I wanted to give up. Even now, I wonder if some dreams and promises will ever come true.
