Sarai had a longing, a deep longing for children. For a short time, she had not been able to conceive. She poured her mothering heart into two other children and blessed them tremendously. I know because they were my grandsons when they were little.
She and her husband, Erik had decided to adopt before they even married. So they adopted a son in whom they delighted.
Friends and family continued to pray she’d be able to conceive a biological child.
Surprise! Sarai conceived a little girl. Then they wanted to add more children but they experienced heartbreak and then another heartbreak as they lost two babies through miscarriage.
Finally, after more prayer support from others, she conceived and carried to term, a baby sister for her little girl and her brother.
I noticed the beautiful glow on her face today when she and Erik visited our church.
I walked over to her to see the baby, “You’re enjoying motherhood aren’t you?” I smiled, having shared some of this journey with her.
She nodded enthusiastically as she beamed at her baby, “I am thoroughly enjoying it!”
She and Erik made the sacrifices so she can stay home and nurture their little ones. I enjoy watching them both delight in their children through Facebook photos and videos.
Sarai’s story is a beautiful story of a longing fulfilled as she became a joyful mother of children.
“A longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12
“He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord.” Psalm 113:9
