Giving Brings Unexpected Healing
“You want to do what? For who? You have got to be kidding!” I shook my head in shock and disbelief.
“Yes, honey,” I heard my husband Stan’s determined voice on the other end of the phone. “I think I am going to take the directorship of a ranch for men from Skid Row L.A.”
I gasped for breath. “Are you sure?” I couldn’t imagine moving from a middle-class suburb to work with men from Skid Row L.A., one of the worst slum areas of Los Angeles.

Famous In The Eyes Of A Few
“Mrs. Gibson, are you a substitute for our class?”
“No, I am sorry. Not today.” Her lips turned into a pout.
“I sure wish you’d come to our class.” Another boy told me as we stood in the cafeteria of the intermediate school.
When I reached my 5th grade classroom assignment, a girl ran up to hug me. She looked up at me with a big smile, “You’re going to be our sub today!” A couple of others reached out to give me hugs.

Someone Cares When You’re Distressed
Do you have the freedom to accept yourself and express your feelings of stress or distress?
In some cultures, it’s not considered acceptable to express feelings of deep distress or grief. The result is that we often suppress these feelings or think there is something wrong with us.
However, David the Psalmist frequently referred to his distress or grief and anguish. By doing so, he frees us to be human. When things are not going well in the family, at work, or some other distressing life situation, David gives us permission to express those feelings, if not publicly, at least before the Lord.
How to Avoid Getting Stuck in Regret
Do you ever feel sorry because of things you did or didn’t do? Do you ever wish you could change things that happened in the past?
Most of us do.
We’ve made some mistakes we regret. In some way we’ve fallen short of all we wanted to do and be and all God wants for us. We fail to live up the ideal. The original Greek word for sin simply means to fall short. We all can admit to falling short in some area of our lives.
Now when we think about those things we can sometimes get stuck, living in regret.
